The 2020 NCARE Annual Meeting & Conference will be held at the Greensboro High-Point Airport Marriott on February 27 & 28, 2020.

We are excited to return to Greensboro for our 2020 annual meeting and conference.  We hope that you will join us at the Greensboro-High Point Airport Marriott on February 27th & 28th.  Highlights of the conference include:

  • Exciting pre-conference workshops (some specifically for graduate students and early career scholars).
  • Increased monetary awards for the Distinguished Paper Award and the Marvin Wyne Outstanding Student Paper Award.
  • Outstanding Student Poster Award

Call for Proposals are now open.  Other important conference dates are:

  • September 1: Call for Proposals Opens
  • October 1: Conference Registration Opens
  • October 31: Deadline to submit paper proposals via NCARE website (11:59pm).  Only posters and roundtables will be accepted during the extension period if a deadline extension is needed.
  • December 1: presenters are notified of status.
  • February 6: Deadline to book your room.

Conference Awards

Distinguished Paper Award - $750 - Submissions Due April 15

Outstanding paper presentations at the conference each year are eligible for the Distinguished Paper Award. The winner of the Distinguished Paper Award will earn a slot to present his or her paper at the following AERA annual meeting and will receive $500 toward travel.  You must agree to present at AERA to receive this award.

  • The paper must have been presented at the conference but not previously presented or published elsewhere.
  • Authors must be NCARE members at the time of the conference.
  • Papers representing various forms and genres of research (including conceptual papers) are welcome.
  • The paper submitted for consideration must be no longer than the equivalent of 30 double-spaced pages with standard APA margins and 10- to 12- point type. The 30-page limit includes all tables, appendices, charts, graphs, references and other ancillaries to the text. The name, address, and phone number of the first author should appear on the cover page, which will be removed for review. No author identifying references should appear elsewhere. A 100- to 150-word abstract should be included with the paper.

Students are eligible for the Marvin Wyne Outstanding Student Paper Award or for the Distinguished Paper Award but may not apply for both simultaneously.

Marvin Wyne Outstanding Student Paper Award - $200 - Submissions Due April 15

Outstanding student paper presentations at the conference each year are eligible for the Marvin Wyne Outstanding Student Paper Award. The winner of the Marvin Wyne Outstanding Student Paper Award will receive a $100 award.

  • The paper must have been presented at the conference but not previously presented or published elsewhere.
  • Authors must be NCARE members at the time of the conference.
  • Papers representing various forms and genres of research (including conceptual papers) are welcome.
  • The paper submitted for consideration must be no longer than the equivalent of 30 double-spaced pages with standard APA margins and 10- to 12- point type. Outstanding Student Poster Award - Awarded at the Conference

New to NCARE is an outstanding poster award.  Students who present their posters at the conference are eligible for this award.  The author(s) of the winning poster are awarded a one-year membership in NCARE and will be recognized at the closing session of the NCARE Annual Meeting and Conference.

  • Posters representing various forms and genres of research (including proposals and conceptual studies) will be welcome.  

  • Any student who is a member of NCARE at the time of the Annual Conference presentation may submit. The submitting author must be an NCARE member at the time of the conference presentation and each author must be a student.

  • The poster must not have been previously presented or published in whole anywhere but at the NCARE Annual Conference.  

  • A student or students must have wholly created the poster.  

Student posters eligible for the Student Poster Award are denoted in the NCARE conference program with an asterisk.

Future Conferences

The 2021 Conference will be held in Charlotte in partnership with UNC Charlotte Educational Leadership faculty and students.

NCARE is an affiliate member of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) through the Consortium of State and Regional Educational Research Associations (SRERA).
